La Corporación Chilena del Patrimonio Industrial TICCIH Chile; en conjunto con la Asociación Portuguesa para el Patrimonio Industrial APPI/TICCIH, el Ayuntamiento de Valparaíso, la Universidad Internacional SEK-Chile y la Universidad de Pavia-Italia; han convocado el Congreso de Patrimonio Industrial “Ascensores y Funiculares del Mundo” que se desarrollará los días jueves 14, viernes 15 y sábado 16 de abril de 2011 en las ciudades de Santiago y Valparaíso en Chile.
En la ciudad de Valparaíso en Chile existe el más importante conjunto de ascensores y funiculares del mundo, declarado Patrimonio de la Humanidad, los organizadores del Congreso llaman a la colaboración y ayuda para su puesta en valor. Los 15 ascensores y funiculares sobrevivientes de un conjunto de más de 30, son elementos de valor fundamental que caracterizan este sitio patrimonial y su urgente rescate es una imperiosa necesidad de la ciudad y el país chileno.
Todas las experiencias nacionales e internacionales de conservación, intervención, puesta en valor y nuevas experiencias tecnológicas de “Ascensores y Funiculares del Mundo” están convocadas a participar en este encuentro.
The Chilean “International Committee for the Conservation of the Industrial Heritage” (TICCIH); in collaboration with the Portuguese Association for the Industrial Heritage (APPI/TICCIH); the Municipality of Valparaiso and together with the SEK-Chile International University and the University of Pavia-Italy; are pleased to announce the Industrial Heritage Congress “Elevators and Funiculars of the World”, to be developed between April 14th and 16th, 2011, both in Santiago and Valparaíso, Chile.
Since the end of 19th Century until nowadays, the development of this mean of transport has extended through the entire world, leaving a true mark in many countries as part of the urban and industrial heritage.
The survival of the most important group of world elevators and funiculars located in Valparaiso and declared as World Heritage Sites, requires our collaboration to its proper value restoration. Almost the fifteen (out of thirteen) elevators and funiculars that could survive are fundamental elements of value because characterize this heritage site and its urgent rescue is an imperious need for the city and the country.
